Petunia. Aunt Petunia has one daughter and one son. She is a widow. Her husband died in a train crash. Her daughter’s name is Lucy and her son’s name is Derik.Lucy is also a 16 year old girl with brown hair. Derik is a 19 year old handsome boy. He is also a lover of birds.
They all had a friendly uncle, Bill. He is more or less a detective who works for the president. All the four of them liked their uncle.Everytime aunt Petunia takes the children for a holiday trip but, this time she had got measles, so the doctor had advised her to take rest. When the children came to know about this, they all became very sad. Suddenly an idea struck Jack’s mind. He asked “Why don’t we ask mother, can we go to a bird island with Bill?” So all the four of them went to their mother and asked this, and to their luck mother agreed.So, Derick phoned up Bill and asked about this and to their disappointment, Bill was on a mission. He said “There is a gang who stole the money from the president’s money vault, so they have sent me to catch them, but when the gang came to know about this they started to chase me. Now I am speaking from my hiding place. So, I will try to come to your house tonight at 12:00 and just check at night that the coast is clear.” and he kept the phone. They had informed their mother about this. Everyone was sad that they could not go out for a holiday but, were happy that Bill can come to visit them.
At night, they all were keeping a watch for anyone from the gang. Suddenly Lucy saw a bush shaking. She called out to everyone and said in a whisper”hey jack, Mary, mom just see there. Is that bill or a member from the gang?” So mother went and contacted Bill and then Bill said “it’s me. I could see you through the window.” So everyone gave a sigh of relief. Then they heard the door bell ring and when they opened the door Bill came inside and sat down. They gave him something to eat and drink and told them about the plan. Bill said “I will talk about this to your mother and decide it, so go to sleep.”
Next morning all the four children woke up exitedly.They all went rushing to Bill and mother. Then Bill and mother said “you children can go on this trip with your uncle”. They got so happy that Lucy broke a flower vase. Bill phoned the taxi and said it to come the next day at 10:00 a.m. They all packed their things and got ready for the next day.
Next day they had porridge and apple juice for breakfast and waited anxiously for Bill to wake up and for the taxi to come. The taxi came at sharp 10:00 a.m. They all got inside and went to the sea port.
After going there, a man came and introduced himself as Carlos and his tiny motor boat which can accommodate 4 to 5 persons. Carlos was a thin man with shabby hair and brown eyes. His boat was named ‘Water King’. The boat was small, but had all the facilities. Bill took over the wheel first. He said “when I get tired Jack can take over the wheel”. Then he told Jack to take out the map. When Jack took out the map he saw several islands and they chose the largest one, as they thought that it might have a sea port.
It was a long way to the bird island. On the way they saw many birds. They all had a lovely time. As they neared the designated island, Jack screamed, they all got scared and asked what had happened. Jack told “there are banana peels!” They all thought that someone was there on that island.
